Battle over Spike Milligan will ends

EAST SUSSEX, England, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- More than three years after the death of British comic Spike Milligan the family battle over his estate has apparently come to an end.

Milligan died from kidney failure in February 2002 at age 83 and left most of his estate of 626,326 pounds (about $1.3 million) to his third wife, Shelagh, of East Sussex, England, the Scotsman reported.

Some of his six children, however, fought to have the 1998 will replaced with an earlier version that left them a larger share of the estate.

The High Court recently approved the latest will, in which Milligan requested his wife of 19 years merely give his children "any funds surplus to her requirements," the Scotsman said.

A large part of the comic's fortune from his books and TV and radio shows was believed to have been spent on medical bills prior to his death.
