Jon Bon Jovi salutes volunteers

WASHINGTON, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- New Jersey rocker Jon Bon Jovi urged leaders at the 2005 National Conference on Volunteering and Service in Washington Friday to "start a revolution."

Bon Jovi told about 2,500 volunteer leaders Thursday he got more of "a rush" building a playground for children in Philadelphia than in any of the thousands of concerts he has performed over the years.

Bon Jovi has raised thousands of dollars for Philadelphia community groups through his Arena Football League team, the Philadelphia Soul. The team has raised thousands of dollars for community groups in Philadelphia, The Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network, said in a news release.

"I'm here to applaud all of you who volunteer," he said. "You don't need the cameras. You can start a revolution one soul at a time, in your community."
