Rob Lowe is happy to be in London

LONDON, July 27 (UPI) -- Actor Rob Lowe told the BBC Wednesday he was "happy to represent Americans in London" as he prepared for his West End debut in a "A Few Good Men."

In reference to the recent London terrorist attacks, Lowe said: "I know there has been a tremendous cost for supporting my country's war on terror, and I appreciate it."

The former "West Wing" star is playing Tom Cruise role in the stage version of the military drama written by "West Wing" creator Aaron Sorkin.

Lowe said the July 7 bombings did not change his mind about relocating his family to London for the duration of his West End stint.

"If anything it made me more anxious to come here, because it will infuse the play with some additional emotion," he said.

"A Few Good Men" opens Aug. 18 at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
