LOS ANGELES, July 14 (UPI) -- Horror movie fans long puzzled over how chainsaw-wielding Leatherface came to be may soon have their questions answered in a prequel.
Platinum Dunes is producing a yet unnamed prequel to the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" for New Line Cinema that promises to tell the story behind the notorious Leatherface and his creepy family, the Hollywood Reporter said Thursday.
Actress Jordana Brewster is in negotiations to star in the film with a script written by Sheldon Turner and a rewrite by David Schow. "Darkness Falls" director Jonathan Liebesman has signed on to direct.
The 2003 remake grossed more than $80 million domestically.
