Duncan's 'desperate' dream

NEW YORK, July 14 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Michael Clarke Duncan says he is lobbying for a role on the hit nighttime soap "Desperate Housewives."

"I want to be on that show," Duncan said in New York this week.

Told by a reporter he should try to play Alfre Woodard's mysteriously absent husband, the nice-guy actor replied with a laugh: "You think I haven't pitched that already, girl? Come on now! The minute I saw Alfre Woodard, I called right up and said: 'They've got an African-American on "Desperate Housewives," what's up with that?'"

The actor said he would also consider roles on his favorite shows "24," "Lost" and "Entourage."

Duncan, who was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in the big-screen drama, "The Green Mile," can be seen later this month in the action-adventure flick, "The Island."
