Mini-series on Pope John Paul II set

NEW YORK, June 19 (UPI) -- The script for a CBS four-hour mini-series profiling Pope John Paul II was supervised by historians at Vatican City.

Exclusive footage for the project -- with the working title of "Pope John Paul II" -- has been filmed at St. Peter's Square, Vatican City and Rome.

The mini-series, created by the same producers of "Jesus," will highlight the pontiff's 26-year role as head of the Roman Catholic Church in which he traveled to more than 120 countries.

The show will also cover Karol Wojtyla's journey from his youth in Poland through his late days on the chair of St. Peter. Producers of the mini-series are Matilda and Luca Bernabei for Lux Vide, Max Gusberti for RAI Fiction, Stephen Davis for Granada America.
