'Batman Begins' tops U.S. box office

HOLLYWOOD, June 19 (UPI) -- In its debut week, "Batman Begins," distributed by Warner Bros., grossed $71 million topping the U.S. box office, estimated boxofficemojo.com Sunday.

Fox's "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" dropped to second place after making $27 million for a total box office of $98 million, "Madagascar," distributed by DreamWorks, made $11 million for a total box office of $147 million and Fox's "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith" made $9.7 million for a total box office of $348 million.

"The Longest Yard" made $8 million for a total box office of $132 million and "The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl (3D)" made $6.6 million for a total box office of $24 million.

Universal's "The Perfect Man" grossed $5.5 million in it premier week.

"Cinderella Man" made $5 million for a total box office of $44 million, "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" made $3 million for a total box office of $30 million and "The Honeymooners" made $2.6 million for a total box office of $9.5 million.
