Oslo offers reward for Munch paintings

OSLO, Norway, June 1 (UPI) -- The City of Oslo offered a $310,000 reward Wednesday for information leading to the recovery of stolen Edvard Munch masterpieces "The Scream" and "Madonna."

Two armed robbers took the paintings last August from Oslo's Munch Museum, which forced Norwegian museums and authorities to revamp their security procedures, Aftenposten reported.

Police said the $310,000 reward would be paid once the stolen paintings, worth nearly $20 million, have been recovered and verified to be authentic.
