INDIANAPOLIS, May 28 (UPI) -- Kate Linder, of the daytime series "The Young and the Restless," represented the ALS Association at the Indianapolis 500 Festival Parade Saturday.
Linder became involved with ALSA when her brother-in-law was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, which strikes 5,600 people each year in the United States. By raising public awareness about ALS for the ALS Association, Linder is seeking to help ALSA in its mission to find a cure and help people living with ALS.
"Through my participation in the Indianapolis 500 Festival, I want to expand awareness of ALS, support services to patients and families, and participate in the race for a treatment and a cure," Linder said.
Other celebrities at the Indianapolis 500 Festival Parade included: Richard Karn, Tony Danza, Cheech Marin, Deborah Norville, Lorenzo Lamas, Fernando Arau and Montel Williams.
More than 300,000 spectators were estimated to have been along the two-mile downtown parade route to see floats, stars and Indy 500 starting drivers.
