Josh Malina unsure of 'West Wing' future

CINCINNATI, May 15 (UPI) -- Josh Malina tells the Cincinnati Enquirer he is unsure of his future in the fictional White House of "The West Wing."

Malina plays Will Bailey, most recently on the staff of Vice President Bob Russell, played by Gary Cole. The show ended the 2004-2005 season with Russell losing the nomination to Congressman Gary Santos, played by Jimmy Smits.

While there were hints in the last episode that there might be a place for Malina in the Santos campaign, he said he has heard nothing definite yet.

"I asked before we finished the season, and was basically told, 'We don't really know,'" he said.

Malina plans to visit Cincinnati later this month to speak at the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati.

He said that if he gets bounced from "The West Wing" he won't take it personally. Malina was a latecomer to the show, with his character hired as a presidential speechwriter while Rob Lowe's character was running for Congress.

Malina also has something to fall back on. He and his one-time college roommate, Noah Emmerich, are co-producers of Bravo's "Celebrity Poker Showdown."
