DreamWorks sets date for 'Bee Movie'

LOS ANGELES, April 28 (UPI) -- DreamWorks Animation has set a Nov. 2, 2007, release date for the animated feature "Bee Movie," Daily Variety reported Thursday.

The paper said DreamWorks also announced that Uma Thurman, Kathy Bates, Alan Arkin, Robert Duvall, William H. Macy, Tim Blake Nelson, Patrick Warburton and Oprah Winfrey would join the voice cast. The studio previously announced that the cast would feature Renée Zellweger and Jerry Seinfeld, who co-wrote the movie and is producing.

Variety said the casting on "Bee Movie" continues a trend -- particularly at DreamWorks -- of signing A-list actors for major voices in computer-generated animation features.

In addition to "Bee Movie," the 2007 release schedule also includes DreamWorks' "Shrek 3," Sony's "Surf's Up" and an as-yet untitled project from Pixar -- the studio's feature not involving The Walt Disney Co.

"Bee Movie" is described as the story of a bee (Seinfeld) who decides to sue humans for stealing honey from bees.
