'Dirty Harry' lives anew in videogame

HOLLYWOOD, March 1 (UPI) -- Actor/director Clint Eastwood is lending his raspy voice and craggy face, as well as his financial backing, to the videogame version of "Dirty Harry."

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is overseeing the project being handled by the Oscar winner's Malpaso Productions that promises as much action as the five-film "Dirty Harry" series, the New York Times reported Tuesday.

"There are a lot of fans of the Harry Callahan character," Warner President and Chief Executive Officer Alan Horn said. "This is Clint's way of bringing it to a new audience and having some fun with it."

Warner Bros. said the game will have an original story line, but would not say whether players would get to be Harry Callahan.

Players will have to wait for the new videogame until the new Xbox and PlayStation game consoles arrive. The new Xbox console is expected later this year while PlayStation's new console is to arrive in 2006.
