OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- The opening of the week-long pan-African film festival "Fespaco" in Burkino Faso was marred by the death of two people who were fatally trampled.
The incident occurred when the gates of the stadium in Burkino Faso's capital of Ouagadougou were opened and a near stampede toward shady areas occurred, killing the two and injuring 10 people, the BBC reported.

Twenty films will be screened during the festival and compete for the top award -- the Stallion of Yennenga.
Film makers, critics and fans from across Africa are expected to participate in the festival that highlights African feature films and documentaries. However, films from Europe and the Americas will also be shown.
