Rod Stewart thrilled with first Gramy

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- After nearly 40 years of recording, Rod Stewart finally won a Grammy Award.

Stewart received the Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album Sunday in Los Angeles for last year's "Stardust: The Great American Songbook Volume III," his third collection of pop standards.

"After all these years I was quite liking not winning, but somehow I'll learn to live with it," Stewart quipped after learning he won. The singer is currently on tour in New Zealand and Australia. "I've been disappointed 14 times, so it doesn't seem to hurt my ticket sales, and it doesn't seem to hurt my record sales."

He did, however, say he plans "to take (the Grammy) with me everywhere."

"Stardust" was Stewart's first album ever to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard charts and his first chart-topper since 1979. He also has concert dates planned this this year in North America and Europe, and he's already started work on a fourth Great American Songbook album.
