Kleenex polls TV, film tearjerkers

LONDON, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- A poll by a British television station and Kleenex for Men indicates men enjoy a good tear-jerker as much as women, The Scotsman reported Tuesday.

The poll was the basis of a Channel 4 special to be aired Sunday night -- "100 Greatest Tear-jerking Moments," and will likely create a rush on Kleenex as it airs such film and TV segments as the death of Bambi's mother and ET going home.

While the poll sponsors are keeping the top tear-jerker secret until the show runs, men and women throughout Britain named such other scenes as Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard finally getting together in the New York rain in "Breakfast at Tiffany's," and when Zhivago dies before he can reach Lara in "Doctor Zhivago."

Other films that won soggy nods were "Life is Beautiful," "Born Free," "Schindler's List" and "Rocky."
