Martin Scorsese will present at Oscars

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Director Martin Scorsese will be a presenter at the 77th Academy Awards, telecast producer Gil Cates announced Friday.

Scorsese -- a seven-time Oscar nominee -- is nominated for Best Director this year for the Howard Hughes movie biography "The Aviator."

In the past, he has been nominated for the directing Oscar for "Gangs of New York, "The Last Temptation of Christ," "GoodFellas" and "Raging Bull." He has been nominated for screenwriting Oscars for "GoodFellas" and "The Age of Innocence."

The Academy Awards will be presented on Feb. 27 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, in ceremonies to be televised live by ABC with Chris Rock as host.
