Monty Python's Jones, wife split

LONDON, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Monty Python co-founder Terry Jones has moved in with his girlfriend, a student 40 years his junior, reflecting the end of his 34-year open marriage.

Jones, 62, and Anna Soderstrom spent the weekend celebrating Soderstrom's 22nd birthday. The college student's mother flew in from Sweden and joined her daughter and Jones for the London occasion. The mother appeared unbothered by the age difference, but Soderstrom's father does object, the Daily Mail reported Tuesday.

A colleague told the newspaper the slender brunette is unassuming and not an obvious sex symbol. "If anything, she fancies herself as something of an intellectual and keeps herself to herself," the friend said.

However, the relationship prompted wife Alison Telfer to order Jones out of their Camberwell, South London, home just before Christmas, the newspaper reported. The 34-year marriage long was an open one sexually, but this one was apparently Telfer's breaking point.

"Even by the standards of their marriage," a friend told the newspaper, "she felt it was humiliating. This girl is 40 years younger than Terry, and years younger than their daughter. Alison was furious, said enough was enough and they both agreed to separate."
