Amber Frey backs out of TV show

NEW YORK, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- The former girlfriend of wife killer Scott Peterson backed out of an appearance on the daytime TV show "The View" because her lawyer could not join her.

Amber Frey is making the television rounds to promote her book, "Witness: For the Prosecution of Scott Peterson." Lawyer Gloria Allred has been at her side on Oprah Winfrey, Hannity and Colmes and the Today Show, but View producers said that Frey had to appear solo.

"Given that this is a very emotional and difficult time for Amber, she has requested that all media interviews be conducted with me because I have been there to support her through this ordeal," Allred told the New York Post. "'The View' decided that they would be unable to accommodate Amber's request -- and therefore we mutually decided to pass on the interview."

In the book, Frey recounts her affair with Peterson and how she assisted police investigators. Peterson was convicted of the murder of his wife and their unborn child and sentenced to death.
