Lyle Lovett to play at Bush inaugural ball

WASHINGTON, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Country music artists Lyle Lovett and Clay Walker will headline Washington's most popular inaugural ball Jan. 19.

While there are nine official balls being organized by the Inauguration Committee, the most coveted tickets appear to be the $1,755 ones that get bearers into the Black Tie and Boots Ball, scheduled by the Texas State Society of Washington, D.C., Rollingstone.com reported Wednesday.

Besides Lovett and Walker, the ball will feature Western swing band Asleep at the Wheel.

Meanwhile, Macy Gray will headline an event for non-profit arts advocate Creative Coalition, dubbed the Ball After the Balls, while Mississippi rockers 3 Doors Down will lead the Recording Industry Association of America's party at D.C.'s H2O club. For both Jan. 20 events, tickets are priced at $1,000.

For progressive partiers, especially those on a budget, Noise Against Facism and Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore will be performing at Washington's Black Cat club. Tickets are $12 each.
