LOS ANGELES, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Artie Shaw, the legendary jazz band leader who enthralled audiences with his clarinet during the swing era, has died at the age of 94, the BBC reported.
Shaw died at his home in Los Angeles, the report said.

His 1938 recording of the Cole Porter tune Begin the Beguine helped make him one of the most famous and highly-paid musicians in the United States at the time.
Shaw was married eight times and his wives included Hollywood actresses Lana Turner, Ava Gardner and Evelyn Keyes, the report said.
