LOS ANGELES, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- The movie "Spanglish," is named after a combination of Spanish and English, the dialect spoken by nearly 40 million Latinos living in the United States.
The title of James L. Brooks' latest comedy refers to the intermingling of different cultures after the film's characters end up living together under one roof.
One of the film's stars, Tea Leoni, said "Spanglish" is a story of a Mexican woman coming to Los Angeles.
"She ends up working for a bizarre couple played by Adam (Sandler) and myself, and it's a little bit of 'let the games begin' after that," Leoni said in a statement.
"I play a woman who really, truly is a bi-polar, egomaniacal neurotic witch, and somehow through the genius of Jim Brooks, it's funny."
"Spanglish" is in U.S. theaters now.
