Baryshnikov honored by Nixon Center

WASHINGTON, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Most of the speakers at a Washington dinner honoring dancer/actor Mikhail Baryshnikov couldn't pronounce his name, MSNBC reported Thursday.

Several of the speakers "stumbled, struggled and bumbled" over Baryshnivkov's name when he was given the Nixon Center's Distinguished Service Award, sources told MSNBC.

"They were senators and ambassadors such as the U.S. Ambassador to Spain George Argyros," the source said.

The source said the dancer/actor was nonplussed by the slaying of his name and gave a 10 minute acceptance speech.

"Baryshnikov was charming -- if somewhat tiny," the source said.
