U2's Bono to guest DJ BBC radio show

LONDON, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- The BBC will use five celebrities to host its popular "Today" news radio show this month, including U2 front man Bono and Sarah Ferguson.

Also hosting their own days will be businessman Richard Branson, director Anthony Minghella and philosopher Baroness Onora O'Neill.

Each will host one day from Dec. 27-31.

The move follows a similar BBC hosting scheme last year when Radiohead singer Thom Yorke, novelist Monica Ali and Professor Stephen Hawking were put in charge.

Bono, who has campaigned on issues including third world debt and AIDS, said he wanted to "start the countdown to next year, when Britain can change the world for the poorest people on the planet."

In 2005, Britain will take over the presidencies of the European Union and the G8 group of nations.
