Late comedian to get Hollywood star

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- The late Freddie Prinze will get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday.

Prinze -- who went from standup comedy star to fame as the star of the TV series "Chico and the Man" -- committed suicide at 22 in 1977. He was nominated and sponsored for the Walk of Fame by George Lopez, the star of ABC's "George Lopez" show.

Prinze will be honored with a posthumous star Dec. 14. Plans call for Lopez to attend the ceremony, along with Prinze's son, Freddie Prinze Jr., whose movie credits include "Scooby-Doo" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer."
