ODB's estate shared with seven children

NEW YORK, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Seven children are set to benefit from rapper ODB's estate despite published reports the New York musician fathered a dozen kids.

ODB, whose real name was Russell Jones, left behind three children with wife Icelene and four illegitimate offspring when he died Saturday at a Manhattan recording studio, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday.

"We made him a promise, if or when he ever passes, all his seven children will be taken care of," manager Jarred Weisfeld said.

ODB's sister and mother also confirm the rap star had seven children, despite Icelene Jones' insistence she knew only of her three.

"All these kids were always around each other. We have no idea why (Icelene Jones) said he only had three -- her three -- but it looks like his money is definitely going to be an issue," said sister Lamarenae Jones, 32, of Manassas, Va.

Weisfeld identified ODB's seven children as Barson, Taniqua, Shaquita, Osiris, Allah, God Ason and Ashana.

Cause of death has yet to be determined although the rapper complained of chest pains and shortness of breath prior to his death.

Monday would have been ODB's 36th birthday.
