Colin Farrell not interested in 007 role

LONDON, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Irish actor Colin Farrell, favored as the next James Bond, claims he's not interested in the role despite former 007 actor Pierce Brosnan's endorsement.

"I would not like to do it. They should find someone the audience has no history with," Farrell said, adding if he got the part, he would use his Irish accent to confuse fans of the British spy, BBC reported Tuesday.

Brosnan, who played Bond in four films, will not return for a fifth.

The Hollywood actor said of the actors rumored for the role, including Hugh Jackman, Ewan McGregor and Jude Law, he thinks Farrell would be best.

"He'll eat the head off them all," Brosnan said of the 28-year-old actor.

Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton portrayed the secret agent before Brosnan.

The next Bond film is scheduled for a 2006 release.
