NEW YORK, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Hip hopper R. Kelly said the show would go on at New York Madison Square Garden Saturday night after he was pepper-sprayed Friday night.

R. Kelly, performing on the "Best of Both Worlds" tour with Jay-Z said, "I'm gonna be there ... to go with the show."

The New York Daily News reported Saturday that during his performance he told the sold-out crowd he saw two men in the audience waving guns at him.

Security checked the audience and said it had found no guns and allowed the show to continue - and Jay-Z enlisted some help from Usher, Foxy Brown, Ja Rule and Mary J. Blige to keep the audience happy.

However, as R. Kelly was ready to return to the stage, he was pepper sprayed by a member of Jay-Z's entourage, the New York Post reported.

"Someone in Jay-Z's entourage sprayed him and two bodyguards," Kelly publicist Allan Mayer said. "I think he was upset because they had delayed the show."

R. Kelly was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center in an ambulance.

"He was brought to the emergency room and had his eyes flushed," Mayer said Friday evening. "It appears he will be okay and will spend the night in his hotel room. And he is ready, willing and able to perform Saturday."
