Wallflowers perform on aircraft carrier

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- The Wallflowers are set to spend Halloween on an aircraft carrier, performing for U.S. troops in the Pacific Ocean.

The band members will travel this weekend to the undisclosed location in naval cargo planes, RollingStone.com reported Friday.

"It's all very 'Top Gun' probably minus the intense volleyball scene. The band is thrilled to be a part of this show, but ... we are not promoting any political agenda whatsoever in accepting the invitation ... No matter which side of the fence you're sitting on as we get closer to the November election, I think we're all on the same side when it comes to supporting the troops. Off we go," singer Jakob Dylan said on the band's Web site.

The band's performance at sea follows a summer of recording its fifth album, due out early 2005.

"It's basically just five guys playing five traditional instruments -- no guest stars, no experimenting in the studio," Dylan said.
