LOS ANGELES, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- A woman who has claimed singer Barry White fathered her daughter may be ready to abandon the claim in a legal battle with White's widow and estate.
Katherine Denton filed a claim against White's estate shortly after his death in 2003. She maintained he told her she'd be taken care of for life and promised her a $2 million house in a gated Los Angeles community. Denton also claimed White fathered her daughter, Barianna, although she has yet to comply with a court-ordered DNA test, the Celebrity Justice website reported Tuesday.
Denton's attorneys have been fighting Glodean White, the singer's widow, in court for months. Sources connected to the case have said Denton was willing to sign documents giving up her claim that White is her daughter's father in return for the house.
White's widow reportedly has refused to go along with the deal, Celebrity Justice said.
