Yared wins soundtrack award

GHENT, Belgium, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Gabriel Yared and the music of the movie "Cold Mountain" were big winners at this year's World Soundtrack Awards in Ghent, Belgium.

The Lebanese-born composer received two of the top World Soundtrack Academy awards -- Soundtrack Composer of the Year and Best Original Soundtrack of the Year. "Cold Mountain" also picked up the prize for Best Original Song Written for Film, "You Will Be My Ain True Love," written by Sting and performed by Alison Krauss.

John Williams won the Public Choice Award for his score for "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban." The award was based on an online poll at worldsoundtrackawards.com. Santaollala Gustavo was named Discovery of the Year for the score for "21 Grams."

Sir George Martin presented the Oscar-winning songwriting team of Alan and Marilyn Bergman with a Lifetime Achievement.

"Cold Mountain" and "Shrek 2" went into the weekend's award ceremonies with three nominations each.
