HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- The villains remain unidentified in "Spider-Man 3," which will most likely be the series' finale, writer/director Sam Raimi told Zap2it.com.
Raimi says not even he knows who the villains are.
"I'm not supposed to tell you, and in fact I can't tell you -- because I'm still figuring that out with my brother," says Raimi, adding that he and his brother, Ivan, will probably have help writing the script from "Spider Man 2" writers Alvin Sargent and Michael Chabon.
"We're writing the story right now and we're starting by determining what Peter Parker's journey is as a human being," Raimi said.
Once he and his brother know more about Parker -- Spiderman's alter-ego -- they'll create a villain, he said.
"So it's maybe kind of a backwards way to chose a villain," he said. "That's why I can't quite say yet. I haven't quite figured it out yet."
Photography on the third installment is scheduled to begin in January 2006, said Raimi, admitting he'd love to make a fourth Spider Man film.
"I know how quickly things turn in Hollywood, so I know after this third one that will be it," Raimi said.
