Brit TV star has gay following

And as a surprise guest and DJ at a gay club in Manchester, Kay was a hit.

"He was outrageously camp and looked relaxed as he performed to a full house," said Terry George, publisher of gay magazine Bent. "Peter is in touch with his gay fans and they absolutely loved his act."

Kay, 31, has teamed up with 1970s singer Tony Christie to record the theme music for Max and Paddy, the long awaited spin-off to Phoenix Nights.
