'Team America' gets R rating

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Paramount Pictures' satire "Team America: World Police" has received an R rating, The Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday.

The paper said producers finally satisfied the Motion Picture Association of America's ratings board, which had repeatedly given the picture an NC-17 rating because of a scene showing simulated sex with puppets. The board agreed to the R rating Tuesday, on its 10th review of the movie's content.

The movie uses marionettes to tell an action-comedy story about an elite unit of terrorism fighters. In the process, it makes fun of a wide array of targets -- including Hollywood liberals Alec Baldwin, Susan Sarandon and Janeane Garofalo, and North Korean dictator Kim Jung Il.

It is scheduled to be released on Oct. 15.
