Honors for DiCaprio, Bening

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- The 2004 Hollywood Film Festival will honor Annette Bening and Leonardo DiCaprio with its top awards, festival organizers said Tuesday.

Bening will be named Hollywood Actress of the Year and DiCaprio will be recognized as Hollywood Actor of the Year at the festival's awards ceremony Oct. 18 in Beverly Hills, Calif.

"Annette Bening and Leonardo DiCaprio represent excellence in the art of acting, and it gives us great pleasure to honor these talented professionals and their accomplishments at this year's festival," said festival founder Carlos de Abreu.

Bening, who last appeared on U.S. movie screens in the 2003 Western "Open Range," stars in the upcoming backstage drama "Being Julia." DiCaprio, who hasn't appeared in a major release since "Gangs of New York" and "Catch Me if You Can" in 2002, stars in the upcoming movie biography of eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes, "The Aviator."
