Rosie O'Donnell tries a radio gig

NEW YORK, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Rosie O'Donnell will fill in for radio host Jim Bohannon in what sources say may be the daytime TV talk show host's tryout for a permanent radio gig.

O'Donnell will sub Tuesday night on Bohannon's three-hour Viacom/CBS's Westwood One syndicated talk show, the New York Post reported Monday.

"I think she'd do fine because she's a colorful, offbeat, opinionated character with a showbiz background, but strong interests in politics and controversial lifestyle issues," said Michael Harrison, Talkers magazine publisher.

With radio hosts now earning salaries more akin to TV standards, a number of celebrities have transferred to radio, including Marie Osmond, Ryan Seacrest, Bill O'Reilly and Al Franken.

Radio talk show veterans Howard Stern and Rush Limbaugh recently ranked in the Top 30 of Forbes magazine's 100 highest-paid celebrities, with Stern earning $31 million last year to rank 28th and Limbaugh's $30 million earning him 29th place.
