Patti Page to Casino Hall of Fame

LAS VEGAS, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Singer Patti Page will be inducted into the Casino Legends Hall of Fame, hall officials announced Friday in Las Vegas.

Page, one of the biggest-selling recording artists ever, has long been a favorite in Las Vegas -- where she has played at such legendary spots as the Thunderbird Hotel & Casino, the Desert Inn, the Sands Hotel & Casino, the Frontier and the Flamingo. She will be inducted into the hall on Oct. 31 at the Tropicana Resort & Casino.

In a career that began in the 1940s, Page has 15 certified gold records. Her recording of "Tennessee Waltz" sold 10 million, and remains the biggest selling single ever recorded by a female artist.

Her hits include such million-sellers as "Mockin' Bird Hill," "Doggie in the Window," "Cross Over the Bridge" and pop-country classic "Tennessee Waltz."

Page has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and she is on the Country Music Walk of Fame in Nashville. The Academy of Country Music has honored her with its prestigious Pioneer Award and in 2002, she became the first woman inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.
