LONDON, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- British pop star George Michael, set to end a five-year break from live performances, has cancelled his appearance at a breast cancer benefit because of laryngitis.
A statement on his official web site said that Michael is "devastated" to miss Sunday's concert because of the work former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell has put into it.
Michael, whose mother died of cancer, plans to donate 50,000 pounds or almost $90,000 to the Tickled Pink campaign.
Michael has not appeared live since 1999 when he was in a Netaid benefit.
The star recently discovered a female fan hiding in his London mansion. She lived for four days under the floorboards.
