Usher, Norah Jones tapped world's best

LAS VEGAS, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Usher, Norah Jones and OutKast were named world's best musicians at the World Music Awards, a ceremony honoring the best-selling acts internationally.

Awards were handed out Wednesday in Las Vegas and broadcast live on ABC, Billboard reported Thursday.

Usher, whose "Confessions" album has produced three top singles, took home trophies for world's best male artist, best pop male artist and best R&B artist.

Jones was named world's best female artist and best pop female artist. Her second album, "Feels Like Home," produced the top single "Come Away With Me."

OutKast, whose "Hey Ya!" ruled the airwaves for months, was named world's best group, best pop group and best rap/hip-hop artist.

Other winners included Avril Lavigne as best pop/rock artist; Evanescence, best rock artist; Alicia Keyes, best R&B female artist; Hilary Duff, best new female artist; Kanye West, best new male artist; and Maroon5, best new group.

Celine Dion was honored with the Diamond Award and Clive Davis was recognized with an award for outstanding contribution to the music industry.
