Stars line up for DGA Honors

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Oprah Winfrey, Martin Scorcese and Mike Nichols head the list of presenters for the upcoming Directors Guild of America Honors, the DGA has announced.

DGA President Michael Apted said Winfrey would present an award to Jonathan Demme, who directed her in the 1998 movie adaptation of Toni Morrison's novel, "Beloved." Scorcese will present to his frquent collaborator, Robert De Niro, and Nichols will present to "Saturday Night Live" creator Lorne Michaels.

Jude Law, the star of the upcoming movie remake of "Alfie," will present to Paramount Pictures chief Sherry Lansing, and actress Julie Delpy ("Before Sunset") will preseent to French director Bertrand Tavernier.

Two members of Congress -- Howard Berman (D-Calif.) and David Dreier (R-Calif.) -- will also be honored, along with the Florida State University Film School.

The DGA said the guest list for the event -- to be held in New York on Sept. 29 -- includes Al Franken, Darrell Hammond, Harvey Keitel, Liza Minnelli and Christopher Walken. Comedian Dave Chappelle will serve as emcee.
