Alec Baldwin warned brother on politics

BURBANK, Calif., Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Actor Alec Baldwin warned his brother, Stephen, the Republican Party will use him and then discard him, "Access Hollywood" said Wednesday.

Baldwin said the GOP recruited Stephen Baldwin after he became a born-again Christian.

"Stephen's been fairly apolitical for a long, long time," Alec Baldwin said. "Then he embraced a born-again Christian faith, which is very near and dear to him and very real for him."

Alec Baldwin said "certain operatives" of the Republican Party enlisted Stephen Baldwin to join the campaign. He said he warned his brother against being used.

"I said to him, 'They are going to use you for your political purposes, like both parties use you for your political purposes. When they are done with you, they are going to throw you in the wastebasket.'"

Stephen Baldwin said he supports Bush because of his religious faith.

"I think that ... the best thing for this country in the next four years is that we have a candidate -- in my opinion -- who is truly being led by God," he said. "Systematically, God is being erased and removed from our culture, our society, our government. I think it's kind of freaky, man."
