Van Halen sues Orioles

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Rockers Van Halen have filed a $2 million federal lawsuit accusing the Baltimore Orioles of canceling a Sept. 2 concert in Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

The band alleged the ball club reneged on a deal that would have guaranteed the classic rockers $1.5 million to play the stadium just two months after it played in Washington, in the same market area, Pollstar reported Thursday.

The Orioles first contacted Van Halen's reps at William Morris Agency in April about the possibility of booking the band at the stadium during the East Coast swing of its current tour, says the complaint filed in Los Angeles, the report said.

The suit says around June 24, Van Halen re-confirmed its acceptance of the Orioles' offer for a Sept. 2 concert in writing.

The Orioles' did not return phone calls for a response to the suit, Pollstar said.
