Dan Fogelberg diagnosed with cancer

NEW YORK, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Singer/songwriter Dan Fogelberg has canceled his U.S. fall tour after being diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer.

Fogelberg, who has started unspecified medical treatment, was set to kick off an acoustic solo tour Oct. 16 in Coral Springs, Fla., and end Nov. 7 in Greensburg, Pa., Billboard.com reported.

"Dan is confident he will be able to fight this illness. Your prayers, good wishes and positive thoughts will be very much appreciated," said a message at the 53-year-old musician's Web site.

Fogelberg scored seven Top 20 albums on the Billboard pop albums chart in the 70s and 80s with hit singles such as "Longer," "Run for the Roses" and "Same Old Lang Syne."

He released his latest album, "Full Circle," in 2003.
