LOS ANGELES, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Carlos Santana has invited singer Julieta Venegas to perform at a Latin Grammy Week event, honoring him as person of the year.
Venegas is nominated for three Latin Grammys for her most recent album, "Sí." The tribute, scheduled for Aug. 30 will kick off Latin Grammy Week in Los Angeles.

Venegas is up for Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year, for "Andar Conmigo," and Best Rock Solo Album for "Sí".
A publicist for the Mexican singer said she was in the middle of her U.S. tour when she heard that Santana had personally requested that she perform at the event.
