British celebrities discover roots in show

LONDON, July 29 (UPI) -- Ten British celebrities discovered secrets about their families in a new reality series about genealogy titled "Who Do You Think You Are?"

Bill Oddie, Vic Reeves, Meera Syal, Sue Johnston and Ian Hislop are among the stars on the 10-part BBC2 series, set to debut in October, The Mirror reported Thursday.

Oddie, BBC's wildlife guru, learned he had a sister, Margaret, who died when she was 5 days old.

"I'd heard a rumor about her, but that's all. I was in the back of a car when Kate, the researcher, gave me an envelope and said, 'Have a look at that'" said Oddie, 63, who was handed a 1940 death certificate.

The infant died from malnutrition suffered in the womb, which Oddie now thinks might explain why his mother's life was plagued by mental illness.

Other celebrities featured on the series are Moira Stuart, David Baddiel, Amanda Redman, Leslie Garrett and Jeremy Clarkson.
