Camilla insults Diana in love letters

By

LONDON, June 24 (UPI) -- Camilla Parker Bowles called Princess Diana "a ridiculous creature" in love letters written a year before the royal couple separated, it was reported Thursday.

Details of the passionate letters written by Bowles to Prince Charles have been revealed in "Diana: In Pursuit of Love," by Diana's biographer, Andrew Morton, Britain's Daily Mail said.

In the letters, Bowles told of her love and devotion for the prince. In one, she urged Charles to rise above "the onslaughts of that ridiculous creature," referring to Diana.

Diana, who found the letters in Charles' briefcase in August 1991, shared the notes with Morton to prove her husband was having an affair.

Charles and Diana separated the following year. Bowles has since divorced her husband.

The revelation of the letters may harm Clarence House's campaign to gain public acceptance for Charles and Bowles as a couple, the Daily Mail said.

The whereabouts of the letters today are unknown.
