Mel Gibson tops Forbes Celebrity 100

NEW YORK, June 22 (UPI) -- Mel Gibson's movie "The Passion of The Christ" helped propel him to the top of the U.S. Forbes Celebrity 100 list based on income and influence.

Tiger Woods was rated second, followed by broadcaster and published Oprah Winfrey, actor Tom Cruise, the band The Rolling Stones, author J.K. Rowling, former NBA star Michael Jordan, singer Bruce Springsteen, director Steven Spielberg, and actor Johnny Depp.

Forbes magazine said last year's power couple, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, did not make the list this year following their break up and the very bad box office of the two movies in which they costarred.

Woods, Winfrey and Spielberg consistently place in the top 10, but singer Britney Spears and actress Nicole Kidman have vanished.

Nearly 40 percent of the stars on last year's Forbes Celebrity 100 didn't make the cut this year.
