Libertines' co-frontman facing charges

LONDON, June 21 (UPI) -- London police have given Libertines guitarist Pete Doherty, just back from Thailand after a failed drug rehabilitation effort, a late June court date.

Last week, police arrested Doherty for erratic driving in London. During the stop they found a prohibited "flick knife," Britain's XFM reported on its Web site.

Later this month Doherty is set to appear in court to answer charges of possessing an offensive weapon, driving without a licence and driving dangerously, officials said.

Doherty had only been at the Thai drug rehabilitation facility a few days when he checked himself out.

Meanwhile, the Libertines' new single "Can't Stand Me Now," will be released Aug. 9 on Rough Trade Records and their as-yet-untitled sophomore album is set for an Aug. 30 release.
