Van Halen's music, tour better than ever

LOS ANGELES, May 28 (UPI) -- Van Halen's Sammy Hagar said the band's new outlook makes its upcoming tour and music, the first in years, better than anything the rockers have ever done.

Van Halen will hit the road this summer, for the first time in eight years, to support its new CD, "Best of Both Worlds," due out July 20, Billboard.com reported.

"This set we're playing right now is better than any set we ever played before," Hagar said. " ... We have a whole different outlook on everything. Let's make this the greatest songs the Van Halen fans have ever heard. The set list will kill you!"

The tour will be recorded for a possible DVD or live album.

Hagar insisted, however, that live is the best way to experience the music.

"The only way you're gonna get fulfilled is to sit right there in that front row and just get your face bashed in," he said.

The band's last album, "Van Halen III," was released in 1998.
