"What the World Needs Now Is Love," with music by Burt Bacharach and lyrics by Hal David, was a hit for Jackie DeShannon in the late '60s. Dionne Warwick -- widely acknowledged as the leading interpreter of Bacharach & David tunes -- will perform the song June 10 in New York at the 2004 Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards dinner.

Previous Towering Song Award winners have included "Let Me Call You Sweetheart," "You're a Grand Old Flag" and "Fly Me to the Moon."
