Gwyneth Paltrow gives birth to a girl

LONDON, May 15 (UPI) -- Actress Gwyneth Paltrow gave birth to a girl in London she and her husband, musician Chris Martin, have named Apple Blythe Alison.

The BBC reported Saturday the baby weighed in at 9 pounds, 11 ounces and both mother and baby are doing well following the Friday birth.

"We are 900 miles over the moon, and we'd like to thank everyone at the hospital who have looked after us amazingly," said Martin.
